Giant Purple Isopod Culture

Giant purple isopods (Porcellio scaber) are relatively large and quite hardy. They help break down leaf litter, cycling it into useful and more accessible compounds for plants. They also help to mix and aerate the soil as they move around the vivarium. We culture these on ABG mix with leaf litter on top, oak or live oak works best. They can be supplemented with vegetables, similar to Dubia roaches, however their primary source of food will come from the leaf litter. Keep humid.
